1965 Tiki Suburban – Perfect Theme Execution

Tiki 1965 Chevy Suburban CustomMyRideisMe.com is happy to have 680 members now, including this bad 1965 Chevy Suburban owned by Cameron and Debbie Day from Austin, TX. This is another well done “shop truck” for their hot rod parts business House O Speed. They have created a GREAT garage already even though they just joined. Their garage is a great example of how you can show detailed pics of the interior, engine and exterior of your ride in an organized way. You don’t need to insert pics in an email to show a buddy what you’re up to on your ride, just send them over to your MyRideisMe.com garage and you’re all set!

Cam says, this is Ratiki. It began life as an Arizona based 1965Problem Child Kustom Illustration Chevy Suburban built by my friends and I from the ground up over the span of five years. The concept was Cam’s, that existed as ideas, a few magazine pics and some sketches. Cam then turned to my buddy Brian Stupski from Problem Child Kustoms to render the truck. Brian kindly referred the Day’s over cause he knows I’ve got a weak spot (or maybe a screw loose) for wagons. Somehow, this truck really winds my clock.

Need to know more about this truck? Spend some time checking out 1965classiccar.com. It’s got tons of detailed pics of the build. It’s the kind of site we wish we all had for the build of our rides. (And now you can with My Ride is Me!)

twin turbo F100 Big Block ChevyMy Ride is Me had a busy weekend! NO! I didn’t hang out with my mom! I went to my friend Steve Szymanski’s shop called Industrial Chassis Inc. and got this ultra cool video of what has been transformed from a really nice truck to a full-on Big block Chevy – twin turbo -1000HP badass! I’m doing a full story on this car soon, but for now, here’s the video: (gotta go to MyRideisMe.com!)

Here’s a sneak peak under the hood too! That’s a 427! Fuel injected, custom headers, you name it, this thing is done right. Much more later… Take a look at Steve’s Garage (Click HERE) and see what else he’s up to. I have a bunch more pics to show and a profile of Industrial Chassis coming up.

Please read the whole story: Hot rod F100 Twin Turbo: Full story plus the video

We hope you enjoy it!

Here in Lagrange, GA, there is a piece of sprawling land owned by a man named Mack Waugh. On this land are many, many vehicles. People will drive by and stop to look, in awe of what they see. Most of the vehicles are in terrible shape but there is a heap that are still worthy projects. The city has been after Mack for a while, they call it an eyesore, even though Mack lives out in the beginning of rural country. Mack wants to keep the land and sell the cars. He’s going to try to sell them in one lot 1st. If that doesn’t work he is going to reopen the yard and the cars one car at a time and sell the loose parts. When the cars and parts are gone the yard is closed. I don’t believe anyone is going to buy the whole yard because they’d have to haul it off the land. I’m sure he’ll be forced to sell individually. There will be many opportunities then depending on what he wants for each car. The following link is an album at Flickr of Mack’s cars that another person took. Enjoy and dream away!

Donahoe Racing in Trouble?

Posted in auto, Truck with tags , , , , , on January 5, 2008 by Craig Pike

What started as a few Off road drivers posting concerns about service on their Donahoe Racing products allegedly is a much bigger story!

Dad’s Old Dodge D200

Posted in auto, Truck on December 24, 2007 by Craig Pike

This blog is well over due, but oh well. I need help writing these things, so if you’re a struggling writer or just a car/bike freak with some extra time, why not give this a try?

So here’s Mike and Luz Wilson’s 1965 Dodge D200. I met Mike at the Scottsdale Goodguys show when the sun was setting. I caught a couple good photos that I wanted to share. (Click an image to enlarge…)

1965 Dodge D200

This truck is ultra clean and straight as an arrow and these pictures show it. Who’s ever even seen one of these? Mike told me that the military and forest service were the ones buying up these trucks for a tough life, so the haven’t survived well. Mike worked at Norman King Dodge back in ’65 and since his pops needed a truck, the deal was made. I could have been Mike’s plan all along to get the truck, but he had to wait 30 years before his dad was ready to let it go.

The engine is a late model Hemi backed by a modern automatic trans put together by our friend from The Drag’n Wagon, Mark Greenwell. From here, I’ll let the pictures do the talking. This old work truck’s come a long way since carrying a camper for his dad. With the work Mike’s done, 30 years from now, this will still be a truck worth the wait.

The Drag’n Wagon!

So you’ve owned it since you were 16? Yes. And that was when? 1973. So then, what’s the next obvious question… Why’d a 16 year old kid buy a van? I’m a drummer!

Mark Greenwell of Phoenix, AZ drove this 1966 Chevy Van to the 2007 Scottsdale Goodguys show and immediately caught my eye. The sun setting on those retro-perfect murals blew me away. I knew right away this van had a story. Check these out: (click to enlarge)

The Big Show: Goodguys Scottsdale, AZ

Posted in auto, cars, custom, hot rod, photography, rat rod, Truck with tags , on November 20, 2007 by Craig Pike

Mess-up fuel pump, lost air bleed screw for the new carbs, broken rocker stud, up all night getting ready for the show and sore-as-hell-legs. We had a great time! Here’s my recap of the 2007 Goodguys Show in Scottsdale, AZ.

img_5520.jpg

That all didn’t happen to me, I did change the fuel pump on my car, but probably didn’t need to. The new pump only hit about 1.5psi to start, then up to 3, back to 1, all over the place. Finally, she settled in and makes 3 psi as I’d hoped. My friend Joe helped out by taking this photo. By the way, your battery will go dead if you leave the pump on. sigh.

I’ll be doing several feature stories about the cars I liked at the show. I expect you won’t like all of them. Isn’t that what makes MyRideisMe? Otherwise, we’d use the name ThatOtherGuysRideAintMeAtAll.com.biz.tv.net.org. (we would have, but that domain’s already taken!) Here’s what’s in store:

Hot Rod Model T’s and Typewriters

Posted in auto, cars, Home built, hot rod, rat rod, Truck with tags , , , , , on October 8, 2007 by Craig Pike

img_4899.jpgIt was my pleasure to meet Kirk Wright of Scottsdale, AZ at the Scottsdale Pavilion’s show. We started talking about my car, a 27 Ford Roadster and the the 2.3L Pinto motor I run. Then Kirk started telling me about some of his cars. After hearing about the Model T ‘banger motors he was building, I set up a meeting at his house to see what he’s up to. His card says AAA Typewriter Service on it, so I didn’t know what I was getting into. I got into this Hemi Headed Model T four cylinder!

If you’re into nostalgia racing or old-OLD time hot rodding, or just really into Model T’s, then you just spilled your beer. You’re looking at a one of kind Hemi headed model T engine. The valve cover is also a unique piece.

You have GOT TO read the rest of the story!! Go here!
